| The signs are carved using an attractive 2.25 inch letter/numeral styling. |
| You may want the traditional and robust native Oak, but also available are other wood species i.e. Yew, Cherry, Beech, Ash or Pine. Additionally, there's a choice of edging profile:- Square, Cove, Ovolo, Bevel with a variety of paint colour and finish options. |

| Before ordering your Wooden Carved Sign, consider the following:- |

| Personal name - Several possibilities here; a child's name for the bedroom door, the name of a pet, a boat, a vintage car etc. e.g. JOSH, SNOWY, BLUEBIRD, SILVER CLOUD |
| Humorous one-liner - The choice is yours. Perhaps a birthday gift; MR GRUMPY or MISS BOSSY or even THE OLD F**T. There are many ways of letting your loved ones know that you are thinking of them. |

| DIY Section |
| Many of our customers are keen on adding their personal touch to the sign or plaque. In fact some of the signs e.g. internal, look very attractive in their machined condition. A coat of oil would be sufficient. |
| For signs/plaques that will be exposed to the elements we have the following recommendations:- |
| Colouring Type and Application - There are many possibilities in this area. For signs which will be exposed to the weather, ensure that external quality materials are used. One option is, using a small brush, apply wood stain or oil based paint for wood. Alternatively for something subtle, use a shade of wood dye darker than the wood itself. Another possibility is to use a paint spray and after drying, sand the sign with a belt sander (this can be difficult on Oak and Ash as they both have an open grain and would require extensive sanding). |
| Finish Type and Application - One of the easiest finishes is oil. Use several coats of either Danish Oil or Teak Oil. If varnish is your preferred option several coats of Yacht Varnish or external quality Polyurethane (Gloss, Satin or Matt) Varnish should be used. |
| Like most natural products, care must taken in order to maintain the natural beauty, look and feel of the product. Wooden signs will benefit from an occasional polish. If an oil finish has been used, we recommend a new application annually. On varnished signs, a fresh coat of varnish every few years will help protect the wood. |
